Fairwood Elementary School is being designed to accommodate projected growth and shifting enrollments in the Fairwood Community of Bowie, Maryland. 

The 15-acre site will accommodate a two-story, 85,500 s.f. school designed for a student capacity of 792.  The building is split into two sections by an exterior courtyard enclosed with storefront breezways. The northern classroom wing is a two-story space organized around a central corridor running the length of the wing. The southern wing is single-story including some double height volumes.

The program will include 36 Pre-K through 6 classrooms with support spaces for science, computer lab, vocal/general music, instrumental music, art, speach, gymnasium, media center, and a cafeteria/multipurpose room.

Fairwood Elementary School is being designed for LEED-Gold certification and is targeted for opening in Fall 2010.
