At the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new student center at Frederick Community College, the Frederick News Post reported that President Carol Eaten and other guest speakers were praising the virtues of their new classroom and student center building on campus.  "They bragged about the design, the bright classrooms, the large and inviting dining hall, the new and improved bookstore and the abundance of technology."

As students demand a more traditional college experience from local community colleges, schools have been working to create flexible learning environments that provide the opportunity for learning both inside and outside of the classroom.  By having spaces that can function both as leisure and learning places, the new student center is morphing into the "epicenter of campus life" that "showcases FCC as a student-centered organization that values participatory decision making."

The Student Government Association (SGA) vice president for finance says the new building "has increased student involvement.  It's an inviting environment.  Students are more inclined to stay for club meetings, and more inclined to stay and do homework together."

Former SGA president, Casey Jo Keyser: "Congratulations to the architects for getting this so right.  This is everything I would have dreamed of."
