Burke Centre Library Receives Awards

BURKE CENTRE LIBRARY RECEIVES AWARDS FROM NAIOP (NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF INDUSTRIAL + OFFICE PROPERTIES)

The Burke Centre Library, designed by Grimm + Parker Architects, received two awards at the 22nd Annual Best of Northern Virginia NAIOP Awards held on November 20, 2008 at the Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner. 

The library received an Award of Excellence for the Best Institutional Facility Under $20 Million as well as an Award of Merit for the Best Green Building. 

The Annual Best of Northern Virginia NAIOP Awards celebrate significant new contributions to Northern Virginia by the commercial and industrial real estate community.  These awards were submitted by E.E. Reed Construction, L.P., the General Contractor for the Burke Centre Library.
 
The Burke Centre Library opened its doors to the public this past June and is the first library in the Fairfax County Public Library system to offer drive-thru services. The light filled, lodge-like space located just off the Fairfax County Parkway is a welcome home to commuters and the neighboring communities.

The library was designed and constructed under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program, sponsored by the U.S. Green Building Council and is awaiting LEED-Silver Certification.
