Design Process

As architects of community we embrace the collaborative design process. “Creating Together” are the first words of our mission statement.  We have witnessed through our experience with dozens of projects in dozens of communities, that the best results are achieved when every stakeholder has the opportunity to shape the project’s direction.  While occasionally contentious, and certainly more time consuming, the community design process ensures a free exchange of ideas from a diverse group of concerned, active, and involved community members, and in the end, a building that makes a greater contribution to the community it serves.

Whether the project is a rural county library with a stable, homogenous group of end-users with common goals, or a large performing arts facility that must satisfy the varying needs of visitors, students, administrators, neighbors, fund raisers, and patrons, and the diverse and sometimes conflicting technical needs of music, drama, and dance communities, we believe the project will benefit enormously from a thorough process of collaboration.
